Chronicles of Elyria

UX/UI Website Design.

SoulBound studios had a vision to create an online experience that bridged the gap between their game, Chronicles of Elyria, and the website. Together with their team, I designed gameplay mockups for the UI, systems for character creation and menus, symbols and icons for implementation into the game and it’s website.

*Note: The mockups below are of the latest version that I have worked on, differing slightly from the current design of the game, which is still in development. Some may or may not be used due to requirements of artistic direction or gameplay/optimization, and will continue changing to meet the needs of Kickstarter backers, and future players.

To design a website for the game that shows off all the features, media and development progress in a unique UI that helps draw potential players to the world of Elyria.
To create an online experience to promote the game itself but first and foremost serve as an educational tool to teach users about the experience, development process and lore.

Website design with skeuomorphism

A big part of the game is the homage paid to it’s MMO predecessors. All of Chronicles of Elyria’s in-game systems come to life through applying decades of proven, successful features and the website was designed to showcase all these classic attributes within fluid templates using video, galleries and other interactive components. Users could choose to contribute to specific information and discussions via the forums and comment sections for the dev blogs.

HUD & Character Creation

These assets were designed to interact with in-game Unreal Engine code seamlessly. All popups, components, sliders and health bars were carefully cropped for maximum impact on various types of hardware and all interactive components such as health bars and radar were broken down piece by piece into a modular format to achieve the best animation layering experience possible.
